| In October 2005, I purchased my Oldenberg mare, Havanna. At that time, she was wearing shoes and her hooves were literally falling apart. After much research, I decided to pull her shoes and have her go barefoot. During that time, I continued to use a traditional farrier for barefoot trims. Her feet definitely improved cosmetically but that was all. Between July and November 2006, Havanna was lame and unrideable. My vet stated that I needed to put shoes back on my mare. With no hesitation, I REFUSED! Instead, I opted to purchase hoof boots rather than shoes. Okay, so at least I was able to ride Havanna. However, the boots merely masked her hoof soreness. One year later, in November 2008, I began using Natalie's barefoot trimming services. Today, I no longer ride Havanna in hoof boots. In addition, she is sound on all types of surfaces, from trails to the ring. Recently, Havanna and I showed at a local Jumper Show and won our class! As the Before and After pictures illustrate, Havanna is doing great barefoot. I'm so grateful to Natalie and highly recommend keeping horses barefoot and Natalie's services! Thanks Natalie.
